Trouble Losing Weight? Blame it on the Voices in Your Head!

Its not always about the right workout, number of reps, sets, machines vs dumbells, yoga, pilates, classes, gym memberships, workout videos, no carbs, protein, supplements, fad diets, cleansing, surgery or other. If that isn’t it…what is the number one factor for losing weight, getting ripped, and developing the body of your dreams?

It’s about how you thinkthat little voice in your head

What does yours say all day?

Is it positive or negative?

Is it encouraging and excited or does it criticize and complain about everything?

How about when you think of losing weight, working out or eating better foods?

What does that voice say about that stuff?

Write it down or just be conscious of it.  That little voice is running your life.  It controls your thoughts, which become your emotions, your actions, your speech and eventually how others view you and treat you on a daily basis.

You have control over your thoughts

Start small. Practice a smile and a happy thought all day. Start your day with an inspirational story, video, prayer or book.

Every time your thoughts go to negative, remind yourself to smile and think of something that makes you happy. Fake it. Force it. Trick yourself. Do whatever it takes to break the cycle that is keeping you from achieving happiness and gratefulness. Once you are starting to take control of your thoughts, begin to speak life into your world. Then it is time to act on those words. After action, watch as the world will begin to see you in a new light. Look for it purposefully, and see that you are gifted, and achieving your desires and dreams.

There are definite actions, goals, and measurements that need to be set in place, but it has to start somewhere. And while it is nice to be able to blame everything else. This only leaves you out of your own life.

Want to lose weight, get ripped, and develop the body of your dreams?  Start thinking, talking, acting and looking at your life and world in a positive way. Your relationship with yourself and those around you are what are keeping you in your current situation. If your relationships don’t change your life, then you need to change your relationships in your life. It all starts with you!

So, smile!

You are surrounded by amazing things, amazing places and amazing people!

Be thankful everyday for the things you have in your life and you will be happier, healthier and have more fun along your way!  Have a great week!

Brandon Featured in Maximum Fitness Magazine!

Brandon has transformed his life and is an inspiration to others

Here is his story:

Last summer, I couldn’t carry grocery bags up my stairway without feeling exhausted. I needed to sit down to just breathe.  I suddenly came to the conclusion that I was disturbingly out of shape. Not only that, I’d get out of breath chasing my 3-year old daughter around the park. I tried going to the gym by myself because apparently, that is what people do when they feel fat and out of shape.

The problem was that I wasn’t getting any results. I was already feeling angry but this put me in an even worse mood. At the same time, my friend, Michael Foster, was in the process of becoming a personal trainer and asked if I would sign up as his client. I told him “absolutely” because I knew I needed the help.

The week before I was to start training, I went on a vacation to Hawaii. It turned out to be a complete food and alcohol binge. Sadly, I don’t remember much of the trip. On September 26th, 2007, five days after the vacation, I showed up at the gym for my first session with Michael. While I hated feeling very weak and slow, I knew that Mike was helping me to take steps in the right direction. For three days after my first workout, I could barely move, but it felt so good for some reason. Not only was he helping me to work out but he was helping me with my diet too. Before I began working out, I was eating fast food probably 4-7 times a week. I had to immediately stop that habit. It didn’t take long at all to start seeing results. It was almost instantaneous. Although I weighed 240 pounds so I had a lot of weight to lose. In a month I lost 10 pounds just by eating well and working out with Mike a couple times a week. I continued to lose 10 pounds a month for four months straight.

By the end of February 2008, I weighed in less than 200 pounds for the first time in 6 years.

I couldn’t have felt any better! For the first time in a very long time, I was actually happy with myself. I wasn’t waking up everyday mad at the world. I enjoyed life again. Carrying groceries was no longer a problem. Playing with my daughter just got better and better every day because I knew that what I was accomplishing would also extend my life. I never thought of it this way before, but it turned out that I was not only doing this for me, but for everyone who cared about me. Since February, I lost another 20 pounds and people are constantly telling me how much happier I seem and how much better I look. I know that I couldn’t have done this without the help of Mike and everyone at Innovative Results.

Today Brandon is using his experience to help other people transform their lives.  He is an inspiration to everyone he meets and is changing people’s lives everyday.  His ability to relate to people’s obstacles and then to create positive change has become an integral part of Innovative Results.

Great job Brandon!

After The Biggest Loser…What Happened to Andrea?

Let me start by saying that I am a really good girl with a lot of bad habits.

I might be a trainer’s worst nightmare.

I have way too much knowledge and an amazing gift to manipulate the majority of situations.  Most trainers I have worked with after 10 minutes are totally distracted by my gift of gab that they forget their working. It always ends up the same way with me running the show.

I need someone to keep me on my toes and peak my interest.  I have to be held accountable for my everyday nonsense. I want to be pushed to my limits and see my full potential.  Fresh ideas and constant change keep me from getting bored.

Since leaving the show I can honestly say the only trainer who has met those standards is Corey Beasley from Innovative Results.  I stand behind good people who show results and I will only put my name on something I truly believe in. I see a great deal of passion in my trainer and friend Corey as well as Innovative Results.  I have been to countless gyms both private and corporate and have worked with several trainers in the last few years. I am NEVER usually impressed but this gym was different. I feel very comfortable going there and it’s an environment where you can truly feel the positive energy.

These are good people who take a genuine interest in their client’s everyday. Whether its diet, nutrition, strength training, rehabilitation or just healthy living you will find it with Innovative Results. It has helped me stay focused and maintain a healthy balance both physically and mentally.

The Secret to Weight Loss and Living a Happier Healthier Life

Having the right mindset will make or break you.

We’ve all heard it, but do we apply it?

“Your attitude determines your altitude”

It’s so true, but not always easy to apply when life gets in the way, right?  Losing weight, getting a promotion, having healthy friendships, raising your kids, making money and dealing with life’s little challenges can create stress, fear, and other negative reactions that slow us down and prevent us from living the happy, healthy lives we desire.

Here are a few of my favorite articles from the past year that may help you get focused, stay positive and kick butt this year!

How to write goals and accomplish them

Pretty amazing stuff, right?

So here is some homework:

1.  Write 50 things that you are grateful for. Get a piece of paper and write em out. Some things you can include may be family, career, personal growth, health, fitness, accomplishments, relationships, spiritual, etc.

2.  Write 50 affirmations. They must follow the SMART rule.  Specific, Measured, “as if now”, Realistic and Timed.  For example, “It is now March 29th and I, Corey have successfully lost 30 lbs of fat and have a huge amount of energy everyday”

3.  Make a vision board. Cut out pictures that represent your affirmations.  I am a very visual person, so this one has been a huge value to me.  Next, put this board where you can see it everyday.  You may also wanna create a rotating screen saver on your computer with these pictures.

**Once these tasks are completed, you should begin each day by reading your grateful list and affirmations out loud, while looking at your vision board.  By doing this, you will keep yourself focused, positive and consistent during the next few months.

Try it for 30 days and let me know about your results!

Words You Should Delete From Your Vocabulary

As we start the New Year, I am hearing a lot of people start to talk about resolutions and making 2010 better than last year.  At the same time, I am hearing a lot of people poke fun of resolutions.

Why do they poke fun?

Because most people never accomplish their goals for the New Year, right?

How many times have you tried to lose weight and it didn’t happen?

Why is that?

I believe that most people fail because they don’t take the time to think it through, make a plan, think about it everyday and most importantly, speaking positively about their goal everyday.

If you are planning to lose weight, it is not always easy.  We are all human and need to stay focused and passionate about our goals.  This takes a consistent effort of keeping our minds on track and not letting negative, weak thinking to settle into our lives.

Speech is a reflection of your thinking and it is one of the most powerful aspects of winning.

Weak words can cut your legs out from under you, create negativity and destroy any chance of accomplishing your goals.  As you start a new weight loss program, give yourself a boost and eliminate the weak vocabulary.

Gym Memberships Are a Scam and Workout Videos Are for Suckers

About 90% of people that I’ve seen over the years never change.

They show up a few days a week, some more, but their bodies don’t change at all.

Why do they keep coming in?

Are they wasting their time?

I’m sure most of them figure that they are earning points for showing up to the gym..points with the doctor, their wife/husband, status among friends or whatever..some probably just show up out of habit or guilt.  Most of these reasons deal with other people…the ‘feeling like I have to go’ motivation, which is very weak in most cases.  but most people’s motivation really stems at their own self esteem and ego about looking better.

Tell a woman that she has to put on a bikini in front of 600 people and she will make the change. There is major motivation there.  But if someone just feels like they need to lose some weight and buys a gym membership, there is no connection or deep seeded motivation to create the discipline and consistent effort that is needed.

In order you to get the fast, jaw dropping results,  that we all desire, you are going to have to work…work hard…work consistently and probably gonna have to make some serious lifestyle changes to make it happen.  So here are 5 things you will have to think about.

1. Write down the Desired Result! If you are gonna bust your ass for three months in the gym, what do you wanna do it for?  What is your desired outcome?  How do you want your body to look? What will change?

*the key when writing your goals the to use the SMART method. It needs to be specific, measurable, ‘as if now’, realistic and time based.  For example: Today is December 31st, 2009 and I, Corey Beasley, can squat 400lbs.  Now think about it, write them all down and we can move onto step 2.

2. Nutrition is the most misunderstood, most important factor you will deal with. People are seriously emotional when it comes to eating and most think of dieting as some torturous, agonizing penalty that forces them to eat salads everyday of their life.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  When you really learn what is healthy and how to properly integrate new foods into your lifestyle, you will be surprised how good food really is.

* The most simple way think of healthy eating is this: If GOD made it, eat it.  or If it occurs in nature, eat it. The more we (man) touches it, RUN!  Man has taken naturally occurring, amazing foods and has ruined it.  Processing, pasteurizing, refining, adding to, preserving, genetically modifying, adding chemicals to and basically screwing it all up! The best cooks in the entire world only work with top quality ingredients and you should too.

3. Movement is the basis for exercise and most people spend their life at a desk, in a car and in front of the television.  Gee, I wonder why everyone’s back hurts…hmmm. Most people just need to blow their ass off the couch and go for a walk.  Others may belong to a gym, but either never go, are inconsistent or they have no intensity when they are there.  I think this comes from a lack of motivation and knowledge.  If you are uncertain about starting to workout or how to change up your current plan, ask for help!  There is information all over the place!

*If you do look to hire a professional trainer, please take the time to investigate a good personal trainer or strength coach.  Every local bodybuilder, gym rat or newbie fitness trainer does not understand the body, much less your body.  If you look for advise, make sure the person is qualified and has experience dealing with people like yourself.

4. Recovering from your newly found lifestyle.  If you go from sitting behind a desk to working out 3-5 days per week, you are going to encounter some minor aches and pains.  Working hard in the gym may create some soreness, muscle tightness and other aches and pains.  There are a variety of recovery tactics that have worked wonders for myself, like massages, ice, heat, contrast showers and many more.

* remember to start slow and listen to your body.  Please take the time to learn movements correctly and consult a physician if any pains last more than a few days or swelling occurs.

5. Guidance during your new program is essential. Having someone that can teach you, motivate and push you during your program will be a huge factor in your success.  It is proven that working out with a partner increases your chances for success significantly!  It always makes you work harder, spot, correct and make sure that you are doing things safely and properly.

* Find someone who will hold you accountable so that you don’t get off track.  You have proven up to this point that you don’t have the self discipline to do it on your own, so find somebody good and have them keep you focused this time. :)

So, why is it that you go to the gym?  Do you have it written down?

I truly hope that it motivates you more than the obstacles or temptations you may have. Cuz, believe me, when you work hard and make huge progress, people WILL notice.  They will be motivated and will look to you as an example.  You will earn an kind of instant respect from people that know you.  It will help you stand out from the crowd and you may start to carry yourself more confidently.  Who knows, maybe you’ll even get a new job or even a raise!

Now go out there, kick butt and make something great happen this week.

3 Keys to Quick Weight Loss, Gaining Muscle Fast and Permanent Fat Loss

The majority of gym goers are locked into a foggy series of actions that lead nowhere.  “But they’re working out” you may say.  I disagree.  They are at the gym, but they are far from working out.  Most people that frequent gyms are just stuck in a rut, whether they want to admit it or not.

Most of us have good intentions when joining a gym or starting any exercise program.  Losing weight for your wedding, dropping body fat for the new bikini, or gaining muscle to look more manly.  But here’s where most people fumble.. they start showing up, wandering around and just using whatever they know how to use.  There’s no strategic path, there’s no clear goal and there is definitely no intensity to make it happen.

Here are 3 main factors that will help you get to your goal faster than you ever thought possible.

Lose weight faster than you ever thought possible.

Pile on muscle faster than anyone at your gym.

Here are the secret factors that no one ever talks about that will help you develop the body you have always wanted.

1.  You have to know what you want, why you want it and when you are going to achieve it. Goal setting is the foundation of success.  Developing the body you desire also takes planning.  Do you know what you want to achieve in the gym?  Is it a flat stomach, gigantic shoulders, a record breaking squat, a higher vertical jump?  What result are you looking for?  Got it?  Ok, now why do you want that?  Here’s a secret, it better be important.  If you are not passionate about your goals, then when distractions come up and life gets in the way, you will lose focus and you wont get the results you desire. So, take some time and make your goals clear, figure out why you want em, and lastly set a deadline.  You’ve gotta have something to shoot for, to chase, to strive for in order to win.

2. Next is the secret to success in the gym. If you wanna pass everyone in your gym and get incredible results, here is the number one secret: INTENSITY. Most people just go through the motions, never pushing themsleves, never making progress, never changing anything.  We are creatures of habit, but in order to make progress we have to break through that monotony.  People that gain muscle, move big weights or lose weight successfully walk into the gym with a purpose.  They are focussed on their goals and they are going to workout with everything they’ve got.  You’ve probably seen them at your gym and there is no doubt that they are there to kick butt and get results.  If your goals are clear and important, then the next step is to walk in the gym with a winning attitude, ready to work harder than ever, push yourself and earn the results you desire!

3. Consistency is key! Everyone has heard to story of the tortoise and the hair.  Most people start a program, then fizzle out.  They are too tired, too sore, too busy, etc.  If you want to make a dramatic change in your body and/or your performance, then a consistent, focused level of intensity conquers all. On the road to your goal there are always bumps in the road and everything wont go as planned, but if you are consistent and fight through the challenges, you will be rewarded, I promise!

So, get focused on your objective, develop passion for that result, work harder than ever and stay consistent no matter what gets in your way.  Anything is possible if you apply these tips to your workouts.
