Is Plastic Poisoning Our Food?

We all have heard about the dangers of plastic to the environment, but what does it do to our bodies?

Plastic is everywhere.  We use it, we live around it, we store stuff in it, we build stuff with it, ship stuff with it, protect stuff with it, etc.  It is everywhere and it serves its purpose very well.  Unfortunately, when we use it to much, it begins to leach into our food supply and eventually into our bodies.  What happens then?

The results are disturbing.

Check out this article

It explains how plastics may contribute to disease and unhealthy conditions.

Gym Memberships Are a Scam and Workout Videos Are for Suckers

About 90% of people that I’ve seen over the years never change.

They show up a few days a week, some more, but their bodies don’t change at all.

Why do they keep coming in?

Are they wasting their time?

I’m sure most of them figure that they are earning points for showing up to the gym..points with the doctor, their wife/husband, status among friends or whatever..some probably just show up out of habit or guilt.  Most of these reasons deal with other people…the ‘feeling like I have to go’ motivation, which is very weak in most cases.  but most people’s motivation really stems at their own self esteem and ego about looking better.

Tell a woman that she has to put on a bikini in front of 600 people and she will make the change. There is major motivation there.  But if someone just feels like they need to lose some weight and buys a gym membership, there is no connection or deep seeded motivation to create the discipline and consistent effort that is needed.

In order you to get the fast, jaw dropping results,  that we all desire, you are going to have to work…work hard…work consistently and probably gonna have to make some serious lifestyle changes to make it happen.  So here are 5 things you will have to think about.

1. Write down the Desired Result! If you are gonna bust your ass for three months in the gym, what do you wanna do it for?  What is your desired outcome?  How do you want your body to look? What will change?

*the key when writing your goals the to use the SMART method. It needs to be specific, measurable, ‘as if now’, realistic and time based.  For example: Today is December 31st, 2009 and I, Corey Beasley, can squat 400lbs.  Now think about it, write them all down and we can move onto step 2.

2. Nutrition is the most misunderstood, most important factor you will deal with. People are seriously emotional when it comes to eating and most think of dieting as some torturous, agonizing penalty that forces them to eat salads everyday of their life.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  When you really learn what is healthy and how to properly integrate new foods into your lifestyle, you will be surprised how good food really is.

* The most simple way think of healthy eating is this: If GOD made it, eat it.  or If it occurs in nature, eat it. The more we (man) touches it, RUN!  Man has taken naturally occurring, amazing foods and has ruined it.  Processing, pasteurizing, refining, adding to, preserving, genetically modifying, adding chemicals to and basically screwing it all up! The best cooks in the entire world only work with top quality ingredients and you should too.

3. Movement is the basis for exercise and most people spend their life at a desk, in a car and in front of the television.  Gee, I wonder why everyone’s back hurts…hmmm. Most people just need to blow their ass off the couch and go for a walk.  Others may belong to a gym, but either never go, are inconsistent or they have no intensity when they are there.  I think this comes from a lack of motivation and knowledge.  If you are uncertain about starting to workout or how to change up your current plan, ask for help!  There is information all over the place!

*If you do look to hire a professional trainer, please take the time to investigate a good personal trainer or strength coach.  Every local bodybuilder, gym rat or newbie fitness trainer does not understand the body, much less your body.  If you look for advise, make sure the person is qualified and has experience dealing with people like yourself.

4. Recovering from your newly found lifestyle.  If you go from sitting behind a desk to working out 3-5 days per week, you are going to encounter some minor aches and pains.  Working hard in the gym may create some soreness, muscle tightness and other aches and pains.  There are a variety of recovery tactics that have worked wonders for myself, like massages, ice, heat, contrast showers and many more.

* remember to start slow and listen to your body.  Please take the time to learn movements correctly and consult a physician if any pains last more than a few days or swelling occurs.

5. Guidance during your new program is essential. Having someone that can teach you, motivate and push you during your program will be a huge factor in your success.  It is proven that working out with a partner increases your chances for success significantly!  It always makes you work harder, spot, correct and make sure that you are doing things safely and properly.

* Find someone who will hold you accountable so that you don’t get off track.  You have proven up to this point that you don’t have the self discipline to do it on your own, so find somebody good and have them keep you focused this time. :)

So, why is it that you go to the gym?  Do you have it written down?

I truly hope that it motivates you more than the obstacles or temptations you may have. Cuz, believe me, when you work hard and make huge progress, people WILL notice.  They will be motivated and will look to you as an example.  You will earn an kind of instant respect from people that know you.  It will help you stand out from the crowd and you may start to carry yourself more confidently.  Who knows, maybe you’ll even get a new job or even a raise!

Now go out there, kick butt and make something great happen this week.

I just read your blog about success….
loooooved it!

I am a BIG believer that if you can dream, vision it….anything is possible! Great Job on achieving your vision!!

Anywhooo….Aaron…I need some advice, man….

I attend a gym right now and CAN NOT seem to get rid of the last 15 lbs I have been dying to get rid of.

I think I have plateaued. AND, have gotten discouraged about
After we got back from a two week vacation/no sleep(We stopped in Idaho!I hadnt been back in 10 years!!)
I was exhausted from the trip and needed to get our daughter and me used to her new Kindergarten schedule….Now,it has been at least two weeks since I have been in the gym AND lets not forget the 2 weeks of vacation….for a grand total of 4 WEEKS that I have not been to the gym…..which is crazy for me. I love the way it makes me feel. Now that everyone is good with the new schedule I will drop off Van at school and head to the gym….

What can I do to get over that plateau?
I LOVE high impact and enjoy pushing myself…But what am I doing wrong that I cant lose that extra weight??
Any advice, Aaron!?

xoxo

I will give you my top three pieces of advice…http://www.myproresults.com/PTNC.html

1. forget about the 15 lbs.
Do you look good? Do you feel good? Are you healthy? These are important. Some symbols on a scale should never control you thoughts.
2. Discipline
Four weeks is a long time…not to worry though, you will adapt and overcome, because of your attitude. Stay positive about it, and don’t ever say I can’t lose the 15lbs again (you actually had CAN NOT in caps above). Think, “I have just been given the opportunity to lose some bodyfat,” making you an even more efficient and even hotter human being! :)
3. Recovery with fuel
Is your eating going with or against your work in the gym. Are you eating 4-6 meals per day that do not exceed the amount of calories you burn every day? Are you eating the foods that will give you maximum efficiency or are they foods that only give immediate “feel good” reactions? Is your sleep and water intake in amounts that create a healthy environment for your fitness to make the impact you are desiring? If not, analyze, improve, and control.

I really hope this helps. If you need more help, I could help you find a professional in your area. :) Look forward to Innovative Results online training and nutrition site. You can also check out sparkpeople.com while you wait for our site to be developed.

3 Simple Tips to A Healthier You!

How many people do you know who are on prescribed medication?  High cholesterol, blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, thyroid problems, obesity…  With all of the new medical & pharmaceutical advancements, people are more aware of health & fitness than ever before, yet our own government statistics indicate record levels of health-related ailments.

Every quick fix book, cd, infomercial, TV show, wonder pill, cosmetic surgeons Learn What Really Works!surgery, fad diet and DVD all claim to have the miracle answer.  DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE!  Stick to the fundamentals and you’ll see results that last.  An overall healthy lifestyle will have benefits that impact more than just your pant size.

Here are 3 simple ways to start….

  1. Eat.  That’s right, eat.  There are tons of special diets, but you don’t need a diet – you need to learn how to eat.  Keep It Simple.  The best way to eat correctly is to eat what nature provides: meats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and water.  The more cooked or processed food gets, the worse the food is for you, period.  Too many diets include fast food, soda, chips, candies, or some type of ‘convenient’ food.  This is why the average American has gained over 20 lbs., in the past 15 years, and the incidence of heart disease and cancer are at an all time high!  Pack a little cooler with healthy alternatives such as fruit, protein shakes, organic bars, nuts or water, so that when you are hungry, you have something available.  Also, take an evening and plan your meals for the week.
  2. Move!  Get off the couch, out of your chair, out of the car and move.  This is what most people call exercise, but you don’t have to put on tights and get on the Stairmaster. Go outside, play a sport, go skiing, take a hike, go for a swim, join a gym… It doesn’t matter, just move.  No more ‘New years’ resolutions that last for a week.  Make exercise a habit.  Movement builds strength, cardiovascular health, increases flexibility, strengthens ligaments, increases energy and clears your mind.
  3. Chill. People recharge in different ways.  So you need to figure out whatRelax! you truly enjoy.  What do you like to do that allows your mind to relax?  Try sports, the spa, time with family, a good book, a long walk, a bath, painting or any other activity that rejuvenates you.  Too many people spend most of their time racing around, and they never really make time to recuperate.  Everyone needs time to chill, including YOU.  So think about it, schedule it, and make it a priority.

Final Notes:

Start with your calendar. Don’t just react each day to things that pop up.  Exercise and health need to become a priority.  Plan to workout 3 times per week.  Everyone has 3 hours a week to do something physical.  Next, plan some time to chill.  Remember, this is for you to relax mentally!  Find an activity that recharges you and offsets the week’s stress!  Finally, plan your meals in advance.  Learn how to shop and prepare for your week. Ask for help.  Make time. Commit to basic changes.  You will look better, feel better and become a healthier person!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 25, 2008 – Innovative Results, Inc. takes the number one spot on myfoxla 2008 Best of the OC HOT LIST as the Best Personal Trainers in Orange County.

The myfoxla HOT LIST (www.myfoxla.com), a product of Fox LA News, is Southern California’s premier image-based guide to thousands of local businesses. The HOT LIST delivers the local perspective: hidden gems, neighborhood favorites, and honest advice from those who know their city best.

Aaron Guyett, President and CEO of Innovative Results, Inc., said of the victory:”We are extremely pleased and honored to be named best personal trainers, but not surprised.  The success of any personal trainer can only be measured by his or her clients.  It’s a goal-oriented business and as a former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant I understand the hard work that goes into reaching your goals. I am here to support my clients and offer not just a gym program but a life plan that will lead to fulfillment.  The company’s motto is ‘love, happiness and abundance.’ As trainers, we focus on giving support and motivation to every client so they can achieve their goals.”

Guyett notes the following factors why Innovative Results, Inc. is also the fastest growing personal training business in the county:

1. We offer innovative personal training and nutritional coaching that’s fine-tuned for every customer, allowing for maximum results in minimum time.  Each client’s program is designed with their individual goals in mind.  Everybody is different and nobody’s time or efforts are ever wasted;

2. We don’t train like the traditional bodybuilders, we train movements and therefore create efficient humans with sexy bodies; and

3. We also give our clients innovative nutritional guidelines.  It’s not a strict adherence to specific foods; instead we work with each individual’s food journal to create modification for success.

He adds: “While it’s great to have this recognition because it means that our clients are happy, I won’t rest here.  My goal is to grow the company and continue to increase revenue while creating a great work environment for both my trainers and my clients.  My business model is very different from the traditional gym-membership model that cuts the customer loose after the initial sale.  They count on the failure of their customers, so the gym won’t get overcrowded, and they can sell more memberships. I want everyone to succeed because their success is a direct reflection on me.”

Innovative Results, Inc. has plans to open three private training facilities in Orange County and eventually expand nationally.

Sleep Better With Exercise

We know exercise is good for us. We’ve been told time and time again that it can help prevent weight gain and keep us healthy. But so many barriers exist to prevent us from exercising, especially if we are caregivers.

Time, Health, & Lack of Energy

As a caregiver, you may have less time than any of your friends, neighbors, coworkers, or family members. Each minute of your day may be carefully scheduled. You may find yourself with piles of bills to pay, people to call, prescriptions to pick up, and extra work at night and on the weekends.

You may have knee, hip, ankle, or other joint or bone conditions that prevent weigh-bearing exercises such as Aerobics or running. You may have other health conditions that prevent you from getting your heart rate up too quickly, or too high.

And, quite frankly, you may not have the energy to exercise. Any “spare time” you discover may best be spent taking a nap, cooking a nutritious meal, or even relaxing on the couch with a book. It seems counter-intuitive to spend precious energy on exercise.

Better Sleep, Better Time-Management

Did you know, however, that even walking one mile a day can help you sleep more soundly, and fall asleep faster? According to one study, regular exercise may promote relaxation and raise core body temperature in ways that are beneficial to initiating and maintaining sleep.

A Little at a Time

The American Heart Association recommends that individuals perform moderately-intense exercise for 30 minutes most days of the week. This recommendation is similar to those supported by both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American College of Sports Medicine.

The good thing is you can add up those 30 minutes over the course of one day. As a caregiver, you may never have an entire half hour all at once to devote to exercise. However, you might be able to find 10 minutes after lunch for a walk around the office, or 5 minutes in between TV commercials for some leg lifts. Even vacuuming and cleaning the house has benefits. See our article on “Hidden Fitness” for more suggestions on how to stay fit without a dedicated workout schedule.

You may feel too exhausted each day to even think about exercise, but you have to expend energy to get energy. Staying active and incorporating as much movement into your day as possible will help you stay healthy.
