Congrats Lizard Cows!!  You guys are awesome!

After almost one year of recovery from a car accident, its good to have Shane back in the gym!

Shane Del Rosario is undefeated in his mma career.  After making quite an impact by rolling through 11 opponents, he was tragically struck by a drunk driver.  Luckily everyone survived the crash, but the accident left him in pain and on the sidelines for almost a year.

After a long recovery, Shane is back in the gym and training hard for his UFC debut in May.

If you see him in the gym, be sure to show your support!

Kimberly Newnam

“In May 2010, I contacted Innovative Results through an advertisement on a wedding planning website. My plan was to get in shape for my upcoming wedding. What ended up happening was one month in I felt like I was in the best shape of my life! I was definitely nervous to begin the training, but by a stroke of luck, I was paired up with Jeff DeRitter who completely made me feel at ease and made the training fun. Honestly – I actually almost threw up the first couple of times! But it got easier as time went on and I was motivated to continue post wedding for the rest of my 6 month contract. The comments from friends and strangers on the transformation of my body didn’t hurt either!

I had continued working out on my own since I left IR, but it just didn’t feel the same.

Fast forward to a month ago.  I contacted Jeff and begged him to fit me into his schedule. I even agreed to come in for morning workouts. Which as Jeff will tell you I am NOT a morning person! This time around it is easier to be motivated because I have seen the results and I want it back!

A couple of sessions in to my return to the gym, I was asked to join the Transformation Challenge. What a way to jump back in !!!! It has been a great re-introduction to the IR team and it is nice to see all the changes that have happened over the past year in the gym. I hope that in the months to follow I can change as much as the gym itself has. The Transformation Challenge has definitely kick-started that change and I look forward to continuing it!”

My text to join the Transformation Challenge came from fellow Victorious Secret member, Jessica Ciske. All it took was the text to get me to join…and then I started asking the questions (silly me). I had no idea what I had just signed up for, or what I was getting myself into, but it was the right kind of kick in the ass that I needed to jump start my ACTIVE lifestyle.

I had hit an all time “high”, in weight that is, which in reality put me at an all time low of confidence, how I was looking, and how I felt about myself. Most people wouldn’t know it by meeting me, as I always have a smile on my face, but inside I was fighting a constant battle of low self esteem. I always talked the talk about how I wasn’t comfortable in my own skin, but jump starting the work out regime is not the easiest to do when you need to go for runs in the AM or PM, before or after work when it’s dark out. So I talked the talk, but wasn’t consistently walking the walk, if you know what I mean.

My first day of assessments came faster than I would have liked. I went running the day before, thinking that one extra day of exercise before I started was going to help me. I remember walking in to Innovative Results that first day, and I was scared. I had no idea what to expect. It made it so much easier because Jeff, “bestie” was there to train me, and everyone else was really nice, welcoming, and helpful. Jessica came in early that day to support me too =) great teammate! I joked around that first day, but mostly because I knew the weight was not where I wanted to be, the body fat, was way more than I had wanted recorded, and because I was nervous. I remember walking out that first day thinking, “Well, here goes nothing…”. It was time for me to change, and I’m glad I had this challenge to do that for me.

Every Tuesday and Thursday for the rest of February I woke my ass up at 4:23am and got ready to go and work out for an hour. Every morning I kind of dreaded it thinking, “what is the bestie going to do to me today” but after that 1-hour, leaving when it was still dark out, it was the best feeling in the world. I remember getting my first email from IR for the challenge, and extra support group I hadn’t anticipated. The challenge has helped me be more aware of what I eat. I’ve made some permanent changes in my life to a lot more veggies and protein and a lot less of fatty, sugary foods. My biggest problem was always portion control, or “emotional eating”. I’ve learned through this process that by eating the right portions, drinking lots of water, and feeling good about exercising makes me not want to eat all that other junk.

My Tuesday & Thursday 5AM class has been amazing to work with. It’s a whole other family that I really was not anticipating once I joined up in this. We all push each other, and it’s great having all the extra support. I remember whenever my wrist was still kind of gimpy, and I had to come back on the 40/40 week with the Versa Climber. Roger & Vashil (sp??) stayed and cheered me on the whole time until I finished. Every morning, I left IR smiling and ready for the rest of the day. I made it through the full work day without really being too tired, and just feeling more energized.

I’ve paid attention to my weight, and I may not have been like others and lost tons of pounds, but I have gained a ton of confidence. I used to hate getting up in the morning and trying to find something to wear. Always the bigger flowy tops, and jeans that I could wear a belt with to cover up the love handles. I missed my old job where I could literally wear sweats and leggings every day, instead of now I have to wear jeans and pants. I can look in the mirror now and finally be happy with what I’m wearing. I still have a ways to go, but I’m at least on the right track. I needed this jump start to my working out. I made a pact to myself that all throughout this challenge that I was going to work out Tuesday and Thursday with Jeff, then on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday I was going to run at least 30 minutes. On Sunday, I made myself go hiking (or another activity like snowboarding, where I then proceeded to sprain my wrist, and bruise my tailbone, so that whole plan didn’t work as well as I had hoped…oops!). Monday I took off. That was my consistent schedule of working out this month, and I can say that I stayed true to it.

Leaving the challenge now I have the confidence to get dressed and be happy with what I’m wearing in the morning. I have the motivation to continue on my exercise regime and better myself. I have the knowledge of eating healthy and continue to be aware of what I’m eating, calorie intake, and portion control. I have also left with more friends than I started with. It’s a support system, and a family to help you every morning when you want to quit, on the weekends when you want to eat junk, and that little voice in the back of your head that says “Yes, you CAN do this”. That’s what I’m walking away with. I know the weight, and the inches and the percentage of body fat will eventually fall off, even if I didn’t lose as much as I had wanted to this month. It’s about the baby steps for me, and the first step is always the hardest. One month is done, now I just need to continue on the path of a healthy lifestyle, and I will always bug Jess & Jeff for support if I need it =).

Absolutely loved every second of this challenge. Thank you for letting me be a part of it.
I will be dreaming versa climber until Thursday is over. Thanks =)

To begin with, I do not enjoy taking on challenges… too much pressure, stress and frustration.  Therefore, to contain my sanity and stress level, I prefer to stay clear from competitions.  Speaking of this particular 29 day IR challenge, however, I liked the aspect of “team and length of time (somewhat!).  Being part of a team held me accountable for a portion of the outcome and we had 29 days to train, prepare and improve.  Although I was burned out and bored by the third week into it, understandably,  a considerable length of time is necessary to transform.

Initially, my goal and biggest challenge was to defeat the stupid VersaClimber.  I needed to increase my personal record of 223 in one minute and place somewhere close to the top contenders at 230 and above. Three hundred would be awesome!!  I had to make a mental game of it and think about what I was doing and not just “doing it”.

My preparation consisted of a five day a week training schedule under the guidance and a ton of encouragement from Jeff.  Jeff increased the team’s cardio intensity by using a variety of ideas (the stupid VersaClimber was most horrendous) and covered all of the elements involved in the challenge, along with strength training.  I cut out refined white sugar but did not alter the rest of my daily diet.  I am usually conscientious regarding quality of food and intake.  Did this lack of white sugar benefit me throughout the training?  Possibly.  I have been feeling more awake and energized throughout the day and I have been sleeping quite well.  I noticed on stupid “VersaClimber training days” that I have been rather hungry later in the afternoon, a result of burning more calories.  At times, my body failed me, which I attribute to fatigue.  I would get low times on the dead hangs, tire too quickly doing tsunamis or low stupid VersaClimber numbers.

Overall, I feel good and I believe the cardio work improved my endurance.  The stupid VersaClimber is still difficult; however, I’m not as afraid of it as I once was.  For me, this alone is my little personal success.  I feel as though improvement has taken place both inside and out.  Participating in this was about pushing myself further and further and many thanks to Jeff and my team, I did it!

I moved down toSouthern Californiafor work and began to lose my workout routine and drive to stay in shape. I found IR on Yelp.com and thought it would be worthwhile to visit the facilities. After a quick workup and workout I knew I could make advances in my physical condition and strength with Corey’s training.

Over the past month, I have gained back a tremendous amount of energy and strength. I look forward to my workout days and getting to see all the other people looking to get back in shape. It’s proven to be a conducive environment for staying healthy and meeting other great people with similar aspirations.

I am back playing all the sports I love and excelling at them compared to my counter parts. Many thanks to IR and Corey for making getting back in peak shape enjoyable and challenging at the same time.

As a Foodie, lover of food, or whatever you want to call me, I find it hard to turn down food when it is around. I was healthy, but fell victim to sweets and eating out. I had time on my side in high school and college though. I could run for an hour three times a week, take yoga classes whenever they were offered, and I walked two miles from the parking lot to my classes at Cal State Long Beach twice a week. So I didn’t worry about it. I was that girl who could eat anything and not gain weight.

And then, the reality of a forty hour desk job hit and my hour long runs became shorter and sometimes non existent, yoga classes were all at the wrong times, and my two mile walk to class ended when I received my diploma. I should have adjusted my eating habits but they just got worse. My world was filled with donuts brought for breakfast, pizza lunches, and happy hours. The worse thing about it is that I knew I was eating horrible but didn’t really do anything about it.

In October, I stepped on a scale. I don’t know why I did, but I did. The girl that had been between 125 and 130 pounds in high school and college  was now 145 pounds. Six months of eating and drinking were instantly regretted and I decided I needed structure and a schedule for my workouts. So, I tagged along with Brady on Monday nights to work out. Except, my eating still needed work and while I worked on it a little, I didn’t commit.

After 3 months of working out every Monday night with Aaron, I hadn’t lost any weight. I didn’t know why, the workouts kicked my butt every week and I felt like I was getting stronger with every passing week. But if I listened I could hear the little voice in my head was screaming at me “you’re still eating like crap!” I finally listened right around the same time the Transformation Challenge started.

The eating plan helped me focus on eating well again. Not only was I eating better, but I was feeling better, less tired, and more alert through the day. I wasn’t perfect but when I messed up, I knew it mentally and could feel the difference physically.

I haven’t weighed myself, so I can’t say I’m down 5 pounds thanks to IR and the Transformation Challenge. But I can say this, the motivation and support that came from IR and the Transformation Challenge, I can now say that my clothes fit better, I am feeling better, and I am more committed to changing my eating habits then I have ever been in the past.  I even tried eating a chocolate chip cookie and it took me an hour to eat half of it because even though it looked good with chunks of chocolate, subconsciously, I really didn’t want it. And the other half of the cookie found a new home at the bottom of the trash can.

Being an avid and loyal IR client, I was enlisted to join and participate in the 29-Day Transformation Challenge.  I’m not saying I found myself forced into this, or did not have any knowledge of the challenge prior as I did try and bring in a few co-worker and associates, but the because of timing and other commitments they could not join.  It was just a little chaotic when I was just placed into the fold.  I feel, for myself – my growth both in physical and mental being is most attributed by visually seeing and doing by example. So getting materials and emails, and reading them – it could create residence in the back of my mind and or on the subconscious level, but nothing gets to motivating me like in-person interaction.  I find coming into the environment and seeing all the hard work everyone does on a daily basis as clients and trainers alike, to be the powerful life coaches that inspire my growth.  Having only completed the initial assessments (February 4, 2012), I know I can improve in all aspects – maybe more in some areas than others, but with whatever the outcome does confirm at the final assessment, I believe I will still feel positive.  So, in conclusion taking part in this challenge may not have benefited me as much as others but I still find that IR did make a great impact overall in their commitment to the clients and improving lives. Also, if for nothing else for me to continue to tout how incredible this place is. To the entire IR team keep doing what you do.

As a firefighter in training I need to stay in shape and in top condition. Thanks to the Innovative Results, and their 3 week challenge, I was able take off 10 more pounds towards my goal of losing 50lbs. Over the 3 weeks I cracked down on my diet and worked hard. My stamina, endurance, strength, and balance all noticeably increased by the end of the challenge. During the challenge (and still currently) I switched to an all vegan diet, I carefully chose my foods as not to leave out important nutrients. I will never go back to a non-vegan diet. I feel healthier, have more energy, and heal faster. At the end of the 3 weeks I thought I would let myself have a cheat day; I found that I no longer found my old diets food to be as tasty, and sweets were so sweet that I was unable to eat them.

A few months ago when I first started training at Innovative Results I weighed 205lbs, I immediately started shedding the weight. My goal since the beginning has been to drop to 155lbs.  Coming into the challenge I weighed 186; leaving the challenge I weighed 176! At this rate I hope to lose the last 20pounds in the next two to three months and be able to have my first amateur MMA fight. Even having been through a fire academy, and having trained at different MMA gyms, Innovative Results has topped them all. Innovative Results has raised my strength and conditioning to a whole new level. I am so impressed with Corey and the rest of the trainers at Innovative, they have found a way to turn going to the bothersome task of going to the gym into having a fun time. IR is not like your ordinary gym where you do your own thing and keep to yourself, it’s being part of a family, everyone knows each other, cheers on one another, and everybody’s friendly. Whether you just want to get in shape, or want to train as a professional athlete and want to raise your game, come check out Innovative Results and meet the family.

I’ve been thinking about my own testimony and where I have come from in the last 3 months. It’s been good for me to reflect and see how far I’ve come!

“I’ve been working out with Aaron for about 3 months. I wanted Aaron to be my trainer because I knew his passion would not let me get away with being undisciplined. I knew his passion for a healthy mind, body and soul would inspire me to make life long decisions rather than temporary ones. Through this process, I knew I would relearn how to respect the body that was given to me.

My goals at the very beginning was to have a clearer mind, more energy, better sleeping, and of course, get in shape.

First of all, I wish I took a before picture cause I know my body went from flabby to firm. I feel more confident about my self and my strong core has given me my posture back. I feel more like a lady rather than a slouch.

As for having a clearer mind, more energy and sleeping, I didn’t realize it was more than just working out. I didn’t want to face the fact that I needed to change my eating habits. Aaron did not give up on my stubbornness. He continued to point out that Gods produce is much better than mans processed quick meals! Which is what I lived on cause I hate cooking!! 3 months ago I was on 2 anti-anxiety and anti depression prescriptions, and now I am down to one. I have taken about 75% sugar out of my diet, processed food in exchange for whole wheat, not fat milk, natural fruit juices, oatmeal, more protein, nuts, salads, veggies, fruit, etc.  And I can tell, little by little, I have more energy, less stress and more positive thinking. I am now passing this life style on to my boys so they too can have more energy and clearer minds. Especially when it comes to school. I hope to discontinue my 1st prescription. I will keep you posted.

I have so much more respect for my body and I want to continue to treat it the way God intended.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ‘Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, that you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies’. Being in better health helps me to better conduit for God!!”  Thanks Aaron for caring!! God Bless Your Passion!!

Thank you IR for not only challenging me to transform myself but giving me the tools and support I needed to succeed during the past 25 days. The nutrition plan and daily inspirational emails were monumental in my success, I loved the process so much I’m not stopping!! It’s not just a contest it’s a lifestyle.. Started at 205lbs, day 25…. 190lbs, thats what Im talkin about!! Thank you IR!!

Collene Toavs

I’ve always been an amateur athlete. I grew up swimming, biking, and trying to be a runner. In my mid-20s, I started doing Sprint Triathlons. Every year, I tried to train more and more, and I prepared for many months for a Sprint Triathlon inLong Beachin September 2010.
It was the day before the race. I went to pick up my bib number at the expo and that was when I ran into the Innovative Results team. They were there with battling ropes and—I think—even a tire to demonstrate strength training techniques.
My boyfriend and I made our way over to check out what they were doing. I was feeling really strong that day, but I’ll never forget how I felt when I picked up that battling rope. It was so heavy! I went from feeling really confident in all the “over training” that I had done to realizing that I had wasted a lot of time training ineffectively. You don’t get stronger and faster by just doing the same exercise for longer periods of time or by doing an exercise at the same level of intensity.
The following weekend after the race, I went to a free educational running clinic at Innovative Results. I really had to see this place and find out what I was missing. I spent the next couple months researching training programs online until I finally just called them one morning before work. Aaron Guyett was great on the phone. He asked me about my past and present level of fitness and what I was looking to achieve. Based on what I told him, he setup an appointment for me with one of the trainers.
I showed up the next day for my first training session and I have been fanatical about Innovative Results ever since. My trainer is a certified dietician. She not only gives me the best, most effective workouts, but she has taught me how to eat better and help my muscles recover quicker.
I’ve been at Innovative Results for 10 months now, and I’m so proud to say that on February 5, 2012, I ran the Surf City Marathon! I could have never done it without training at Innovative Results. The intensity, strength, and core exercises that I do there improved every aspect of my body and prepared me for performance!
I have so much energy everyday and I feel so good about myself! The last year has been life changing for me. The Innovative Results team does amazing work!

I started at IR a little more than a year ago, on a referral from Dr. Chrissy & the Man-imal that is Tommy Christian.  I needed to get out of pear shape and into a better overall level of fitness & wellness.  I’ve battled back issues for years that stem from an accident & then stupidity (a few years back, I crashed a bike crusier, damaged my ankle, then went out on jet skis, launched off a reef outside ofCapoBeach, and in protecting the ankle, sacrificed my back).  I’ve always enjoyed out of the ordinary workouts, and there is nothing ordinary (compared to your local meathead gym) about IR.  The workouts are………wait for it………..INNOVATIVE!!!  My trainer got me……….wait for it…………RESULTS……….provided i actually listed to Jeff’s recommendations in my food journal.  I was constantly pushed beyond my comfort zone and continuously surprised myself in what I was able to do as time progressed.  It made me want to come in and get beat on for an hour as often as my schedule would allow!!  My brother’s wedding came and went (another reason to lose the pear shape) and I knew that i was in the best condition and mindset that i had been in since high school!!!  I sustained a wrist injury & that coupled with some financial issues that need to be resolved, forced me to take some time off in the fall and winter, and everything i had worked towards suffered.  The Man-imal convinced me that i needed to join the transformation challenge, and he couldnt have been more correct.  It reminded what i was getting out of IR……motivation, a sense of belonging to something more than just a gym for workouts, and the desire to make myself an overall better person!  I was telling someone the other, there are soo many things I love……well I hate them, but I love them after i finish a work out…………the battling ropes and tsunamis………the pullups (ok fine, arm hangs cause i cant pull myself up) & the pushups (ok fine again……..modified pushups, cause I cant sustain proper form for a prolonged amount of time)………the sled pushes and the knife fights (no caviates there!)…….everyday is different when i come in, and i enjoy that sooo much more than repeadidly picking up & putting things down.  The trainers always encourage you, even if you arent directly working out with them……..the clients that help round out the IR family get behind one another to encourage & push one another beyond what they think is individually possible.  IR is a place that I know in one way or another, will be a part of my life for the forseeable future…………I just hope i havent embarrassed Team Bob Loblaw’s Law Blog with my performance in this transformation due to my difficult work / travel schedule……..or this rant………I mean testimonial because I really do love coming to IR and know that for everything i put into it, I get even more back in return!!

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but one can start today and make a new ending. So, there is no wedding, no reunion, simply a party of one for a healthier me.  At the start of this challenge I thought I would lose a couple of pounds, but it has become more than that.  It has challenged my mental toughness.  After working 9-10 hours the last thing I wanted to do was workout.  I feed off the energy from my teammates (go Honey Badgers!), some of the other clients and other trainers at Innovative Results. We all encouraged each other, no matter if you were a rookie or a long time member.  Everyone is given the attention we deserve.

To sum up what I found out from all the daily emails of encouragement, from the texts and daily face to face interaction with Aaron Guyett, my trainer, is the following: “Everyone has a gift, is that something that you do with the least effort.” That’s what I at Innovative Results have learn how to get better-one step, one thought, one breath at a time.

Joe VanWormer

Since joining the “Transformation Challenge” I have noticed staggering results in my health and athletic performance!  In the short amount of time I have been with “Innovative Results” I have definitely grown stronger, quicker and developed more stamina.  With increased energy and motivation levels, these changes have made a dramatic improvement in my soccer game and over all well being.  I just feel better therefore my attitude is better and consequently my actions with people and the world around me better.  With that I lift a special thanks to my trainer Aaron and the rest of the Innovative Results Staff!!!  ;)

Not long ago I read a book called “The Life You Always Wanted”. One particular chapter titled “Training Vs Trying” was an especially impacting for me. It spoke to the notion that our spiritual development is not unlike developing athletic strength and ability. We grow stronger and more capable as we persevere through difficulty. We intentionally push ourselves. If we do not give up we will surely gain the strength to do well and it becomes more natural.

What does this have to do with working out at Innovative Results? EVERYTHING! This book (along with other observations and experiences) has helped me to realize my spiritual walk encompasses every detail of my live.  My experience over the last month at I.R. has been an exceptionally tangible example of what the author was writing about. When I started the month, I was not able to do what I am capable of doing now.

My time at IR has been a true blessing. I feel stronger, more relaxed, I’m eating better, my prayer time is more focused, I am more disciplined, more motivated, feel more empowered! I now look forward to the challenges. I if pain is part of the process, well I will grow stronger for it! So bring it on!

Thanks Aaron and I.R.!!! I look forward to more growth in the coming months!

Finding a Balance
6 years ago, I retired from competitive figure skating. I was an Olympic hopeful from the age 12 until I retired at 24. Spending my life as an athlete, I was hardcore with my diet and exercise as the shape that my body was in directly affected to outcome of my performance. Now, living in the “real world” I have struggled with finding a balance between my high expectations of body image and being able to live a normal, social life. I am a coach for figure skating now and really want to be an excellent role model in all ways for my students especially when it comes to body image. For the past 6 years it has been a constant struggle for me to find balance when it comes to diet and exercise. As soon as I start to feel weight come on, I would do some major crash diet that was really unsustainable and lose weight but gain it back after a couple weeks of being off of it. I just kept feeling like a failure. When it came to exercise, I was really inconsistent. I lacked the motivation to push hard or even workout more than twice a week. I would train for marathons and as soon as they were over I would find it hard to set foot in a gym for at least two weeks.  This constant roller coaster really brought me down.
Starting with Amanda Brown at Innovative Results I found that it was easier for me to stay on workout schedule and she really gave me the motivation to stay consistent. I found myself training with her twice a week and running twice a week on a consistent basis in December and January. I saw results, but wanted a quick fix to my weight and problem areas so I started another impossible diet.  With this diet, I dropped weight super fast but also got sick and emotionally tired from the lack of calories and carbohydrates. It was a strain on my health and even relationships. Again another fail and by mid January, I had gained the weight back. I was frustrated.
When the Team Transformation Challenge was announced, I thought “Yes! What a great opportunity for me to go really hardcore and get the body I want”. So I joined a team, with my friend, and was all set to go. Except! I set myself up for failure again with my diet plans. I started a daily journal for weight, diet and exercise. I would make a diet plan for each day and try to stick to it, but for the first week I just kept failing!! And by failing I would eat something not on the plan, feel guilty and binge the rest of the day thinking that I would just start over the next day and be even stricter. Finally, I realized that I was being unrealistic and setting myself up for failure. After a good cry/emotional breakdown, I decided to nix the journal and diet expectations and just make the best food and drink decision possible and every chance so that at the end of the day, I could pat myself on the back for good choices instead of tearing myself down for failing.
The first few days into this plan were not that great, but as I really started to trust myself, I started making better and better decisions. As a former athlete and with a BS in Health Science, nutrition has always been easy for me to understand. I knew it was about simplicity. I needed to eat clean, exercise 5-6 days a week and drink a lot of water.
I gave up alcohol and limited processed foods. My snacks are raw vegetables and fruit such as bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, oranges and apples. For breakfast I eat egg whites with a low card, high fiber and whole wheat tortilla or one piece of whole wheat toast with almond butter; with coffee or tea. If I’m in a hurry to coach I have a nonfat latte and protein bar. All my days are very active with coaching or working out, so my snacks are really my meals. Along with the fruit and veggies I have a can of tuna or a protein bar to get me through the day. Dinner has become strictly vegetables and protein such as a salad with salsa for dressing, black beans, tomatoes, avocado and some veggies or steamed veggies and salmon. It’s easy, light and satisfying. But most importantly, I am not absolutely starving by the time I get to dinner because I have nourished my body during the day.
Looking back at the past two weeks, I have been able to eat more, have tons of energy and feel really good about myself. I have finally found some balance in my diet and my lifestyle.
As for workouts, I train with Amanda twice a week; Wednesday and Friday mornings. These workouts are tough and exhausting, but I feel strong and awesome afterwards. On Monday nights, I take an intense yoga class for an hour. Tuesdays and Saturdays I run for 40 minutes on the treadmill and sometimes do abdominal exercises. Thursdays, I either make it in time for a fantastic cycle class or miss out on a bike and commit to cardio and abdominal exercises. Sundays are a rest day for me. I have had this schedule for the past two weeks to help with the challenge, but really feel that I can keep it up from now on. I feel great and I am slowly, but surely getting to the body that I want. The workouts work with my schedule and I have the energy and desire to do them. I have finally found some balance with working out and my lifestyle.
Because I had two failing weeks during this challenge, I do not expect to see grand results during assessments, but I am ok with that because I have gone through a journey and feel that I have come up on top of my game with no need to binge or take a break from working out! It’s a great feeling!

First of all, as you may know now due to my music video; I work out! I work out at Innovative Results with Jeffrey DeRitter twice a week, but I also stay busy on my days and nights not at IR. I run, do yoga, spin, lift weights, or whatever Groupon offers that peeks my interest. I’m the type of person that when I miss a deadline for a race that
I want to run, I will run 14 miles just so that I can prove to myself that I could have run that race plus some.

I have always been able to maintain an average weight, although on occasion my clothes feel a little tighter than usual. I was even a trainer at some point for a gym myself. During that time I was the proudest of my body that I had ever been. The problem though back then was that I didn’t know how to eat. I thought that a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats and fat-free milk was a perfectly healthy meal to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I
was starving my body of essential nutrients, and not fueling my body properly for the trauma that I was putting it through. So like most good things, my body didn’t stay the way I wanted it to for very long.

When I started at Innovative Results, I have to admit that I didn’t think I would last there for very long. I had a bit of arrogance, thinking that I knew enough to get the results that I wanted on my own. With that in mind I only signed up for a month to month membership. Well one month has changed into almost 2 years, and without an ending in sight.

I still feel that I know enough about my body and working out to get the results that I want, but I don’t think that is where people fail. I think it takes more than just knowing what to do to get the job done; it takes support and motivation to help see you through to your end result.

Innovative Results, and especially Jeff, has seen more potential in me than I would have ever seen in myself. The way they push you, knowing that you are holding back, and knowing you have what it takes to get there. I have no problem with going out and pushing myself when it comes to running; running is my comfort zone. But to believe that I am capable of pushing a sled for an entire mile or encouraging me to beat my personal record with the Versa Climber are things that I could not have done without their support.

My body is what it is, and I am proud of how hard I have worked to earn it. My body has not only transformed in the 30 days of this challenge but has been transforming since I started at IR. I have muscle definition that was never there before, and the stamina to get me through some of the craziest and most intense workouts. My diet fuels my body for whatever is to come that day at IR, and doesn’t weigh or slow me down.

The transformation challenge was exactly that…a challenge to say the least. For some reason I was extremely anxious about it the entire time. The Versa Climber has become my nemesis, and although I didn’t defeat it today, it will still happen. My biggest challenge was getting over my own mental block. I end up selling my self short and then disappointed myself with the outcome. Having a trainer like Jeff, who encouraged me and gave me the tools to accomplish my goals, was priceless. Over the many workouts that I have had with him he has learned the areas in which I lack, and those are where he gives the helping hand. The fact that he knows what I am capable of and never lets me give up is what is so great about IR.

Thank you for the “Team Challenge”. I have been coming to IR for about 3 months and was hesitant to join a team for this challenge. I am 42 and have always kept in pretty good shape up until October 2010 when I tore my ACL, meniscus, and cartilage playing basketball resulting in surgery. I had ACL reconstruction and repair on my meniscus and woke up to find I also went through a micro fracture procedure which left me non-weight bearing for 6 weeks and slowed my physical therapy and recovery. After six months I was probably in the worst shape in my life. From day one at IR Aaron opened my eyes to training methods I never even knew about. I learned about having the right mindset, proper movement, and intentional recovery. I have worked out hard and Aaron has always been concerned for my bad knee. It was hard setting goals for the challenge. I figured if I just sets goals to see some improvement in each of the testing areas and that would be good enough for me. What I didn’t consider was the mindset improvements that would come with this challenge. The accountability was huge. I loved the emails and being pushed by any and everyone that knew I was a part of the challenge. The main improvements for me have been nutrition and consistency with my workouts. No more soda or junk food. It is all because the change in my mindset. I found that I need to be challenged. ABC, A – always, B – be, C – challenged, “always be challenged! ALWAYS BE CHALLENGED!!!” Keep the emails coming. Keep pushing me. I will keep setting goals, reach those goals and be in the best shape of my life.

February has been a pretty amazing, yet exhausting month.  I definitely stepped up my game in workouts; however it was my nutrition plan that suffered.  I am completely able to stay consistent in my workout routine but it is inconsistency in my eating that keeps me from the results I truly desire.

With as random of a work schedule as I have during the week, some days working 12-14 hours jumping from 1 job to the next really affects what and when I eat.  I tried to not make this schedule an excuse this month and it started strong (preparing food ahead of time), but quickly went down the crapper.  I was however more focused on how much alcohol was consumed over the month of February, trying to limit as much a possible.  It wasn’t eliminated, but it was drastically reduced so YAY.

I absolutely loved my team.  We definitely had a good match together and helped motivate and push each other through the month.  Knowing you have a support group and people that are counting on you to improve not just to win but for yourself was fun, not to mention incredibly helpful when working until 2 or 3am and having to be back at the gym at 9am to get in a workout.

So in all there wasn’t much weight loss BUT I feel great, increased muscle definition, improved my energy levels, and I WILL GET 300 on the VERSACLIMBER!!

….Alright here is exactly why the change remains inconsistent… it is 2:39 AM and I just got home from work, and get to wake up and do assessments at 9AM… It may not be a day for 300, but I will give it my all for the team.

When you write a testimony for a product or service there’s the tough part of showing your true appreciation, while also ensuring that others believe you in what you to say. With Innovative Results, and especially Jeff DeRitter, the amount of gratitude I have within isn’t simply put into words. I have been with Innovative Results for over 2 years and I can without doubt say that it has by far been one of the greatest investments I have ever made. I always say, the best test for determining if someone is genuine in what they mean is asking them if they would get on the 6 o’clock news and express it to those watching; and that is how confident I am in the results of Innovative Results. Throughout the years I have attempted to achieve various goals, and with the guidance of Jeff, almost each has been achieved or will be achieved in the days to come. With the current competition, as well as other goals, the outcomes have been objective, but more importantly the progression is shown. The encouragement of Jeff is invaluable. The atmosphere is not of “you should to do it be better than others” but of “you CAN do it and everyone here will help get you there”. The positive attributes of Jeff, and Innovative Results is an endless list; but I will have to leave it at that. All I can say is a simple THANK YOU! to Innovative Results and an extra THANK YOU! To Jeff DeRitter to getting me where I am today and helping me get to the goals ahead.

Michelangelo said it best when he said, “The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” When I heard about the 29 day challenge, at Innovative Results, I started making up excuses not to sign up; the exercises looked too hard, my body couldn’t handle it, what if I couldn’t keep up with everyone? Then, I realized how sick and tired I was of making up excuses. I either wanted to change or not.  I HAD strong determination and drive to sign up and change what I had never been willing to change before.  I knew it was going to challenge me physically, but nothing could prepare me for the emotional and mental hurdles I would overcome; the sleepless nights because my adrenals kept the adrenaline going, the anger because I wasn’t losing weight fast enough, and the tears because my self esteem was low and I pushed too hard during one of the workouts. So many times I thought this isn’t worth it, I’m not going to make it, and I want to drop out. My aim and expectations of myself were too high, so half way through the challenge, I decided to do an experiment. If I let go of the emotions and embrace that I faced my fears by signing up and sticking with it every week doing my best, could it make a difference? Could thoughts hold a person back that much? Guess what? They do if you let them be your story! I’ve let go of the insecurities, the self consciousness, and embraced doing my very best during each workout. One of the inspirational videos emailed to us, by the IR staff, helped me; the one where coach is telling his football player to give his best. The player gives his best and went farther than he thought. This last week I’ve worked out two days in a row with no adrenal issues and I feel great! Talk about giving my best and doing better than I thought. Of course, using a sauna, Epsom salt baths, and oxygen has helped my recovery time tremendously. On the days I’m not at IR, I’m doing yoga, walking, or using a stretching DVD to keep my muscles moving and help them recover even more. As for the IR workouts, they’re fun and make me feel like I’m a kid playing! We use ropes, and sleds, and versa climbers, oh my!  I used to go to a regular gym and train with a personal trainer. That experience was mediocre compared to the IR workouts. Instead of working out each section of my body on different days, my whole body gets a workout every time. Each workout is different, which keeps it fun and keeps me coming back every week. How could you not, when you do tsunamis, push the sled, or bear crawl? Now that’s gold! Of course I owe some of the credit to my awesome trainer, Jeff.  I’m grateful for his fun, knowledgeable, and encouraging personality. Thank you Jeff! Sharing my story has motivated some of my friends to exercise more. My husband started biking to work again and my coworker started up an exercise program of her own. How rewarding to know I have helped others better their fitness. Now that’s priceless.

29 DAYS TO SUCCESS!!!
Snapshot of Karen’s transformation:
Lost 10 lbs. in one month
Dropped from size 12 to 8
Totally energized
Joined a 12-mile hike with an advanced team of athletes

Who says age is not a factor? It was for me.  I had already decided to join Weight Watchers to lose weight because my previous workout plan alone wasn’t giving me results. I used to cycle twice a week and jog once or twice a week around 2 to 4 miles, feeling completely exhausted. Cardio used to keep me in shape and I could eat – in moderation – pretty much anything I wanted.  About a year ago, I started piling up the pounds although my diet remained the same and my workout also pretty much the same.  Six months later, I worked out even less because I was discouraged and lost energy. I went from a size 4 to a size 10, sometimes 12, in one year. I went to the doctor believing I had hormonal problems, but my doctor said the usual: “You’re just getting older.” It’s true, my mom may have not looked like me at my age but I was still feeling the weight of my forties. I could not figure out what the problem was since I was doing everything right!

My biggest accomplishment at Innovative Results in the last 29 days is the energy surge I get from the short but intense workouts, the loss of weight from 160 pounds to 150 pounds in just one month without going through IR’s detox plan, the relaxing nights of deep sleep, the waking up to a trimmer and leaner physique, fitting into a size 8, and the best part was that I was able to join and keep up with an advanced team of athletes on a 12-mile hike on Pacifico Mountain – when it was my first time hiking, EVER! It’s been a life changing experience. I am in the same physical condition as a marathon runner, a regular kick-boxer and a yoga instructor, who hike on a regular basis. I feel much stronger, happier, more balanced and I am having fun while working out without having to kill myself with cardio. Amazingly, it was all done in one month! I am also venturing out and trying new things because I feel capable of taking on the challenge. Age has been a factor on my body and I now realize that I did need innovative techniques for better results! I have decided to continue my workouts and can’t wait until I reach my goals! Thank you, Aaron, and the IR team!

I have been working out all my life and have battled weight issues just as long.  Through this transformation it became apparent that food issues run deep and that became ever so apparent through this.  Even though I did not lose weight I gained in strength ten fold.  The strength is not only from seeking within, but also from wanting to make IR proud.  The best part of this last month is that my husband for the first time in our thirty years together is working out next to me.

Thank you all for being such a special group of people.

Courtney Wesson
I took this challenge in hopes to get stronger and faster. Well, I proved that I am both!
I have to say I did not stick to the meal plan because I was not looking to lose anymore weight. I am grateful for these recipes. They will be kept and referenced to also. Thanks! I came to Innovative Results with a broken heart and spirit.
I hated my trainer for just telling me what to do and walking away. Coming back to me and telling me that I was doing it wrong when I was finished. Thanks a lot, dude. I was inconsistent in going to the gym because I felt like my trainer did not care about or like me. I had lost much weight already. Being consistent with my workouts has kept my body in line and now I have a smaller butt and muscles! If only he could see me now! ;D
I really enjoy coming to see Keri. She seems to really care about me and my progress. She makes sure I have the right posture for the exercise and does not walk away. I like how Innovative Results changes things up every workout.
For my test results from a month ago, I pushed the sled 1 second faster, dead hung 30 sec longer, versa climbed pretty friggin’ fast compared. I have to admit to pooping out at 20 secs and even stopping for over 5, I still finished passing my steps before I was supposed to. If I were to have kept my pace up I would have my name on the 300 plus in 1 min. mark on the wall, here.
Thank You Innovative Results for your friendship, support, encouragement and grace.
Love You Guys!!

Joshua Spencer
Hi, I’m Joshua Spencer.  I first heard about Innovative Results through a Marine in my Reserve unit.  I started coming to Innovative Results as a client in August, last year.  I have playedRugbyfor 4 years and my goal was to get fitter and improve my athleticism specifically for the All-Marine team tryouts that were happening in November.  IR surpassed all of my expectations.  While my agility and power grew, I noticed important gains in areas that I didn’t even know that I needed improvement in!  I started at 192 lbs and within two months I had increased to a much more powerful 210 lbs!!  My overall strength, coordination, recovery time, and work rate dramatically improved.  At tryouts I not only made the Marine team, but was a starter!

Since then, IR has helped me continue to perform at my best despite several injuries.  When I suffered an ankle sprain my trainer Aaron Guyett saw it as an obstacle to overcome and an opportunity for learning and education for me.  We began working on corrective exercises that have not only helped my ankle recover but have made me more agile and balanced.  He helped me learn how to take better care of myself so that I can avoid injuries.

I was very excited for the Team Transformation Challenge.  Almost all of my goals are performance-oriented and I really needed to improve my explosive power and endurance.  At the end of the challenge, all of my timed assessments had seen serious improvement.  I dropped my 50’ body-weight sled drive by an entire second, increased my endurance on the tsunamis by nearly a minute, and posted better numbers on VersaClimber than I had thought possible.  The 1 minute of Versa is definitely the hardest I have pushed myself for a minute in my entire life.  My score improved from 319ft to 363ft!!!!  And the best part is, due the fitness I have earned and recovery that I have learned here, the very following day I played an entire 80 minuteRugbygame with full strength and had one of my best games this season, resulting in a VICTORY for my local team!!!!

However, the good that IR has done for me doesn’t end there.  When I finished my active duty time in the Marines, I had a very difficult time finding work in the civilian world.  I was underemployed for nearly two years, doing work that didn’t satisfy me and that I didn’t feel very good about.  I was mentally not in a good place, and I felt that my hopes and desires were slipping away and that life was very dull indeed.  Training at IR brought me into contact with the right kind of people and with good fellowship.  I found myself not only physically challenged, but spiritually challenged.  It reinforced in me the need for daily meditation in the Scriptures and purging negative influences.  I found that I had a lot of life left inside that had fallen asleep.  It was time to WAKE UP!!!

As the Transformation Challenge started, IR was looking to hire an additional trainer.  Aaron saw something in me and recommended that I try-out for the position.  After passing a very rigorous hiring process, I am proud to be the latest member of the IR team!  I am motivated and oriented in a positive direction.  I now believe in myself and am WAY more satisfied with my work.  And there is plenty of work for me now!!!
Everyone at IR, from the owners and mentors to the training team to all the clients and all of their wonderful backgrounds make this such a great experience for me.  Everyone at IR is a positive influence and a role model.  I am daily sharpened by each and every one of you and am so EXCITED to get to work that getting out of bed even early in the morning is easy!  Thanks Aaron Guyett and IR team (everyone) for being there!  : )

Tommy Christian

When I was tasked with writing a testimonial, I immediately had the same thought I always have when asked to write something: uhhhhhhhh…drawing a blank. I credit Keri for my inspiration on this piece of work. She said, “Dig deep, Tommy!” Her offhand remark reminded me what I most value from my time at IR. Getting back the will to dig deep within myself and push beyond my own perceived physical limits has helped me immensely in other areas of my life. It has been particularly useful in my current situation: I just had a baby and changed jobs in my company. The action of pushing my physical limits beyond what I thought possible at IR has helped me to cope with the immense amount of change that goes along with these other two life events. The habits I’ve developed with Jeff (setting goals, working towards them, being accountable to them and celebrating the success when achieving them) has helped me do the same thing other areas of my life. The February challenge couldn’t have come at a better time for me and helped kick start the process of achieving my physical, professional and personal goals.

I did a really good job of eating healthy and working out consistently towards the end of last year, but the Holidays and a couple of long business trips had me gaining back weight that I had lost and losing fitness that I had gained in 2011. I did a better job than most people during that time of indulgence, but wasn’t feeling my best. I set three goals for February concerning fitness; while I didn’t achieve them all by the 29th, I came close (two out of three ain’t bad). Nothing makes me try harder than competition. I haven’t pushed myself physically to the puking point this much since I was playing collegiate lacrosse. I’m not encouraging this, but I can’t help myself. If I’m competing, I push to the max to get that win. In addition to really getting my February going, I plan to continue the habits that I began (because of the competition) until I reach all the goals I set for myself. Setting goals and subsequently achieving them is incredibly addicting. Look for me on the 2″ bar getting to my pull-up goal.

My wife was 36 weeks pregnant at the time this contest started. One of the things that I had to change about my life was my working travel schedule. I went from a job that was traveling about two weeks a month to one that travels two weeks a quarter. I was grateful to be able to change, but it was also a big personal adjustment. However, I have already started setting achievable goals in this new position similar to the way we do it at IR. In addition, the consistent exercise really mediates my moods in this time of change. I used to set goals for myself years ago, but got away from it. Like anything you don’t regular practice, I lost the skill. IR has really put that back into my life and given me a way to deal with the frustrations that come with life “moving my cheese.”

I spent much of my waking hours during my wife’s pregnancy thinking about the kind of father I want to be. I think a big part of my development as a man came in my early teen years when my dad and I wrestled a lot. There is something about the first time you beat your dad that provides an immense amount of satisfaction and personal growth. I want to be able to do that with my son. I want to have a catch and not be worried about injuring myself. I don’t want my son to have to wait for me to do any kind of physical activity because I am out of shape. Today, it’s the dreaded versaclimber and flipping tires; in a couple of years it will be teaching my son, Kade, how to chop wood, climbs trees or throw a vicious check in a lacrosse game. IR is preparing me for an active fatherhood.

To Aaron, Corey, Keri and Jeff: Thank you for all the hours of training. Kade will have a dad who kicks ass in the Father/Son football, lacrosse or whatever games.

To all the IR trainers and team members: Thanks for the hours you all put into creating a gym that is a sactuary of fitness where we all can grow together.

My wife said it best. “Why do you only lose weight when you work out with Aaron (aka IR)?”  This challenge gave me an opportunity to get as serious as I could on changing the way I feel and look.  To start, I learned a few good recipes for snacks and meals.  Also, including a cheat day in my nutrition was an interesting learning experience.  The first cheat day I pigged out on junk food and then I sat there wondering “How do I feel now?”  The second cheat day I did the same, pigged out.  And I admitted I feel worse than before I ate; which cannot be good.  I was still very much looking forward to my third and fourth cheat days but when they came I pretty much eat healthy.  It became an instinct to eat healthy or at least not super bad.  Ka-POW!!  Another huge thing I experienced was that being serious about showing up to IR and not missing keeps the motivation up which keeps the discipline up.  I didn’t miss once during the month on February.  I lost 15 lbs during the challenge.   My wife, friends, and co-workers made comments on my weight lose; and I didn’t even ask.  All and all, learning some new recipes, recording my food, keeping the calories down, and working out consistently has given me control over something I thought I had lost; feeling and looking good!! Ka-Chow!!  Knowing I have the control over looking and feeling good already makes me a winner.

When I started working out with Aaron Guyett at Innovative results I was currently working out at LA fitness with a trainer. I was bored, seeing no results, had no motivation and my trainer showed no interest in my personal goals, just another half our session doing 12 reps on a bench press or 15 leg curls to collect a few bucks was what I’ve always had for trainers.  My first workout with Aaron was intense, I needed to be pushed past my limits, I needed an outside motivation. Without a commitment from me joining Innovative Results, Aaron gave me and provided for me, everything I was and have been looking for in a trainer in the past few years, with no financial benefit in his eyes or just a new client to train Aaron pushed me, he cared about me and my goals and what I wanted to accomplish, my workouts had purpose with my end goals in mind. I lost body fat, gained lean muscle, increased flexibility, have healthy eating habits, sleep better, feel better, clear minded, my overall goals have been met and my new goals are in the making.
Thank you Aaron Guyett and Innovative Results for allowing me to be part of the IR Family.

Antonio Johns

I found out about innovative by mysteriously following the warrior training page on Facebook.  To be completely honest, I don’t know how that happened.  However, it is the greatest that could have happened.  I took advantage of a deal and Aaron was very encouraging about having me start up.  I hadn’t worked out for a year prior to me signing up, but I wanted to regain a useful, functional, fit body.

The first day, I thought I was going to die.  I wanted to quit half way through, I was fighting vomit from coming up and my lungs wanted to leave my body!  Aaron made sure I kept pushing though, and with his positively and completely amazing knowledge of how the body works, I got through just fine.

Its been a little over a month now and I’ve seen significant improvements!! Not just with my physique, but my mental attitude, energy levels throughout the day and overall health.  Within the one month, my stamina, strength and speed have all improved.  I even get to put my name up on the wall for the 300 feet in one minute Versaclimber achievement!!  I couldn’t be happier with the results, and I couldn’t think of a better staff to stick with!  With everyone’s friendly, positive attitudes and complete knowledge of body science, Innovative Results is hands down the best place for anyone to be!

Dan Wulkan
Over the last month, I’ve made some new friends that have helped me stay focused in achieving my first set of goals. And when I say my first set of goals, to me, you are always setting goals-forever. My new friends consisted of the pull up bar I hung from beating my previous time by more than 100%, the Versa Climber I handled with some improvement raising my score 20%, the ever so comfortable sled stacked with my body weight that I slid across the floor in better timing with half a second down (better then nothing at all) as well as the Tsunami waves, confused why the gym didn’t wash away as I bettered my time with a 25% hike. Overall I am pleased with my improvement because I stayed committed and focused and even though I only lost 3 pounds, I realized that the best way to “MAKE IT HAPPEN” is to take baby steps and stay true to the consistency and commitment of working out and eating right. I learned it truly is 90% what you eat and 10% exercise but that 10% exercise makes the world of difference. I learned you can’t lose all the weight overnight, and if you do, you will gain it back the next night. My body is still adapting every day and liking me more and more for treating it the right way and not abusing it, not that I ever did, but at least cutting down and eventually deleting the Starbucks Grande Peppermint Mocha Extra Whip in Venti cup with a spoon for my Sundae drink. In addition to the exercises we do and the equipment we use, there is also a HUGE item I’d like to add to this testimonial. THE STAFF. You can go ANYWHERE and buy equipment. just calling a spade a spade. At a store, off Craigslist or Ebay but when it comes to using it, you need the proper teachings and professionals so you don’t get hurt. I have learned that if you listen closely, the STAFF at IR will guide you and I in becoming the Champion we all set out to be. When I was young, a Baseball Hall of Famer asked me what my dream was, and I said to become a professional baseball player. And he responded, what ever you dream about and set your goals to be, remember, “Good, better, best, never let it rest, until the good is better and the better is best”. I took that with me, and with the present day leadership at IR, I have been kicked into overdrive to make my goals and making the “BETTER….the BEST, every step of the way. I’m never done and I can always improve, that’s why l feel so great and why I get up at 6AM in the morning to work out, I am amp’d because I’m setting goals and achieving them as I continue to add time on the end of my life and it makes me improve not only in my health and well-being but in my ever day life experiences. As I continue to stay committed, my dreams will keep coming true. My relationships get better, work gets better and I feel more successful at what I do and the person I’m becoming. At least thats how I feel and thats how I have been effected by this competition. Thanks IR. Looking forward to the next set of goals.

“Time to get your weight.” Probably the five worst, most dreaded words in the world….the words that make my heart rate spike, palms sweat, and that literally make my stomach cramp. The same five words that were uttered on that cold, brisk Saturday morning of February 4th, the first day of our 29 day challenge. I made my way over to the scale, contemplating on giving up instantly and running out the front door,  but I knew I couldn’t do that. First of all, I love a challenge, and second of all, aside from the panic and fear, I really WANTED to make a change in how I looked, felt, and well…lived.  I knew this was the perfect way to jumpstart change, and it was something I could do with the support of my closest girlfriends, and with the help and direction of amazing trainers. So, at the same moment I stepped on the scale, I made the decision to commit to the challenge, which for me was probably the hardest part of this journey… committing 100%, no excuse, no exceptions. I knew that whatever the results were at the end of the 29 days, I would be held accountable, and there was no way I was going to let myself fail.
Self-discipline has never been a strong suit of mine, so I knew the second hardest part of the challenge would be the meal plan. Every Sunday I would buy all the food I needed for that week. Each night I would prepare my meals for the next day. During the week, it was easy. I would get up, eat breakfast, and take all my snacks and lunch to work and eat at my desk, which actually helped me save a lot of money not having to go out and buy my lunch everyday. I knew though, that the weekends were going to be more challenging, because I was going to be losing the routine that comes with being in an office 8 hours of the day, and I knew there would be nights when I would be going out to dinner or out to the bars, and I wasn’t quite sure how I would handle that, or if I would be strong enough to say no to certain things. It was not uncommon for a Friday or Saturday night to end with a trip to Del Taco or Laventina’s Pizza, but I knew these were rituals that would have to stop. I just had to keep reminding myself of my goal and my commitment. Starting day one, the first thing I would do every morning was step on the scale, and the first week I was losing a pound a day. Those results alone were all I needed to stay strong and focused and resist temptations. Even on treat days, I stuck to the meals on the meal plan. I knew that if I allowed myself to cheat, I would overindulge, and like I said, there was no way I was going to let myself fail. This not only was a team challenge, but it was very much a personal challenge. I was in competition with myself. My will for change was stronger than my cravings for food, and soon the meal plan became natural and easy. Eating healthier and eating less was starting to become a habit, and ipso facto, I had created a lifestyle change.
Not only has eating healthy become part of my daily life, but working out frequently has also become part of my routine as well. When I am not training at Innovative Results, I am working out on my own at the gym. Prior to the challenge, I would always plan to go to the gym after work, or after dinner, or after this or that, and then I would never go because I would be “too tired,” or it was “too late.” I made excuse after excuse, and look where it got me. Absolutely nowhere. Now, I look forward to my workouts, especially the morning classes with Aaron. I prefer to have someone pushing me to perform to my highest potential, because often that potential is higher than the limitations I put on myself. I have learned to dig deep when I think I don’t have anything left, and to get out of my comfort zone and give everything I have. This alone, is key to success in every aspect of life. Having come to learn, appreciate and accept this tool, failure is not an option. Only results.
After just one month, I have so much more energy, and am already feeling more confident and comfortable in my own skin. I have a ways to go still before I get to where I want to be, but I am going to keep working hard and stay committed.  Although the 29 day challenge has come to an end, the real challenge for me is just beginning. I plan to continue on this new path and reinforce all my new habits and rituals, so that I continue to see positive results, and living a better, and healthier lifestyle.

I had ACL surgery on May 15, 2009.  I didn’t know it at the time, but a very long and painful journey to full recovery began for me on that day. Physical therapy was brutal and I developed atherofibrosis in my knee — basically, scar tissue built up in the joint and the PT had to work very hard to break it up so I could retain full flexion and extension.

After my insurance ran out and I was discharged from physical therapy in October 2009, I began lifting weights at the gym in the way most American men think they should.  My mindset was wrong — I thought that lifting weights and not doing much else was what I needed to do to “get in shape”.  Unfortunately, I developed serious tendonitis in my reconstructed knee, and I had to go back to physical therapy in
December 2009.

I basically took the first half of 2010 off, carb-loading while watching too much TV and feeling sorry for myself.  My knee was tight / sore most of the time and I did little more than stretching.  In July 2010, God answered a prayer of mine and a friend put me in touch with a PT who was willing to work with me on the side.  After 3 months of once-a-week workouts with the PT, I was referred to Megan May and began working with her.  When she joined IR in January 2011, I joined IR as well.  Now, I’m training with Aaron and The Warriors and I love it.  I’ve made friends and lost weight and gotten stronger and generally had a great time.

The equipment and workouts at IR are unlike anything else I have ever seen.  It’s a totally unique gym.  I’ve never been bored at IR or thought that I have mastered what’s there.  Aaron finds ways to challenge me every week, and I’m actively referring friends to IR.  Right now, Gina (a friend from work) trains with Amanda and she’s really enjoying it.  Gina blew her ACL just like I did.  I think IR is the perfect place for anyone to be if they want to recover from a serious injury — I’m now playing soccer, running 10k’s, and healing from a long-time shoulder problem.  It’s also great for losing weight and looking good in a medium t-shirt.

Finally, the trainers at IR are really smart and I’m always learning something from them.  I consider this to be the biggest compliment I can pay IR.  My mindset is now right.  I’m thinking correctly about how to train, when to train, and what to train within the context of my goals. In Hosea 4:6, the Bible says “…my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge”.  It’s really true that bad thinking and lack of knowledge destroys a person.  God has provided me with a gym where my thinking is always getting better, and I’m really grateful for that.

I was the fat kid in high school with no desire for organized sports or being able to do anything that can be classified as athletic.  Four years of beer and pizza in college and I blew up to 270 pounds in May 2003 among other health related problems.  Changing my diet and starting to exercise allowed me to shed over 100 pounds and the scale saw 165 lbs by October 2005.  At this time, my confidence was booming and I met the woman of my dreams and we were married in November of 2007.  Fast forward 4 years later, long hours at my desk job and the lackadaisical attitude I had about fitness due to being in a comfortable relationship allowed my weight to creep up back to 210 pounds.

I tried all of the home exercise programs (P90X, Insanity, Asylum), but I couldn’t seem to find the same success I had back in 2003.  It was then I decided to join Innovate Results under the tutelage of mastermind Aaron Guyett.  With IR, I found focused intensity and accountability, which I could not get from a DVD or a set of bands attached to my door frame.  I also found a community of individuals with the same drive and focus to become healthier and stronger overall.  After just 5 weeks with IR, I have lost over 10 pounds and am well on my way in becoming the athlete I knew was inside of me.  I successfully completed the Tough Mudder event on 2/25/12 in 3 hours and 20 minutes, conquering all obstacles with a determined smile on my face.  With the help of IR, I am confident I will return to my former physical fitness and will have a blast while doing so.

Innovative Results changed my life. I’m physically and mentally stronger. Before starting IR (January 2012), I was already pretty active, working out a few times a week. After starting IR, there were noticeable positive changes.  I look fit. And my endurance has increased dramatically with the workouts. They are intense, and now that I can actually complete them—pretty fun! I’ve noticed that the workouts boost my mood all day and I am more alert. I sleep better. I’m healthier. I’m happier.
It’s a friendly environment filled with trainers who actually care to guide you towards greater fitness.
Initially, I thought my goals (such as 200 on the Versa Climber) were pretty challenging; after our evaluations today, I actually beat all of my goals! My next goal is to have my name on the wall for the 300 feet in one minute on the Versa Climber!
I see every day as an opportunity to improve myself from the day before. And with IR, I know that each day I am making a positive change in my life. I know it’s making a difference. I love IR!

Foam Rollers are the secret of feeling great in between workouts.  We’ve all been stiff and sore, right?  Using these rollers before workouts, after workouts and during the day at the office will change the way you feel.  Less stiffness, better mobility and less pain…these things are worth their weight in gold!

Indian Clubs are a tool we just recently started working with and I wish I would have found them much sooner.  Since most of us spend too much time on the couch, computer and the in the car, we all get tight shoulders and upper backs.  Using a series of different drills, these clubs can help release tension in your shoulders, reduce pain and increase mobility in the upper back and shoulders.

X-Vest are probably the best fitting weighted vests we have found.  We use a lot of bodyweight exercises at IR and using a weighted vest adds another level of difficulty to any exercise.  Even if you wear it on a walk, you are going to notice a huge difference…never mind running stairs, agility drills, basic calisthenics and more…awesome!

**FREE Shipping over the holiday season

Power Wheel John Hinds created a pretty incredible piece of equipment here.  We use these things almost everyday at IR and there are a ton of unique exercises that will challenge you from head to toe.  Nothing we have found challenges your CORE muscles more than this guy.

Battling Ropes are a staple at our gym.  In 14 years of training, nothing has changed the way I train more than these simple ropes.  We use them for everything from  shoulder rehab – conditioning professional athletes.

Kettlebells have been around forever, but have been neglected from most mainstream gyms. John Buckley and Jason Dolby visited our gym after their trip to Siberia Russia and opened our eyes to how powerful and useful these can be. Kettlebells are ideal for building a solid posterior chain (back, butt and hamstrings), which is vital for athletic performance, aesthetic pleasure and moving more efficiently. An incredible tool to have in your arsenal!

**FREE SHipping thru the holidays!!

Zippearz - I have never worn earphones while I worked out. They always seemed to get in the way, fall our and be more of a distraction than anything. Luckily, a friend recommended Zippearz ear buds. They are comfortable, sound is killer and they don’t fall out! A must for any active lifestyle!

Gymboss Interval Timer – stop watches are a thing of the past. The Gym Boss allows us to easily time intervals, work times, rest periods and more. They clip on your clothes and notify start and stop times by noise and vibration. They have become invaluable for running groups of athletes in our facility and the only thing I wish we had was more of them!

We hope all of you have a safe and happy holiday season!
