I live in Irvine and met Corey Beasley, owner of Innovative Results, at a business networking event. Coincidentally we lived in the same neighborhood.
I am a graphic designer and typically spend 6-12 hours per day in front of the computer. I had just finished up a 3 month boot camp that got me in cardio shape, but now I wanted to build muscle because I was just cast in a musical called the “Full Monty” . If you know the story, you’d realize that I would be spending much of my time in a pair of boxers. That alone is a pretty good motivation to get the the gym, but I only had 3 months to develop a show stopping physique! Corey and I were up to the challenge!

Dear Innovative Results,
I need your advice…I am increasing in my mileage like a crazy woman, but I feel good about it and I am doing great…except one thing…my long run today was 20 miles =) in 3 hrs, it was a great run except my legs were giving up on me…I had enough energy to keep going, but once I slowed down it was like, “HOLY CRAP! This freakin hurts!” Though the pain was in my quads and hip flexors..Is there anything I can do in my training to strengthen my legs…I feel like I am doing great runs throughout the week…maybe more sprints? Or try to incorporate more strength training?…if that is the case, then what can I do? I appreciate your help! Oh and the count down begins…4 WEEKS til the big day…26.2!

These days we’re seeing a lot of buzz around Wii fit and other gaming systems, but are they as good as they claim?
A study conducted for the San Diego-based American Council on Exercise concluded that the benefits of working out with the popular Nintendo video-game software were “very, very mild,” and that caloric expenditure paled compared with actual activities, like running, boxing and aerobics.
Studies show that the video game workouts do not add up to traditional workout plans. Read more about the study here. In my opinion, I think the gaming systems are improving and making people start to move, instead of sitting on the couch all day.

Think again!
Wii Fit doesn’t replace regular exercise or participation in a sport. You miss out on hand eye coordination, body awareness, intensity and other factors that are vital to improving your bodies performance and function.
My suggestion: put the controller down and go outside!
Wanna learn how to golf? Then go play golf.
Wanna learn about boxing? Then go to a gym and punch your friends in the face.
Wanna workout? Go to the gym!
Want to lose that belly? Stop eating cheetos!
Technology has made most people lazy, fat and immobile.
Do yourself a favor and get out of the house. There is no real replacement for good ol’ fashioned exercise.

Bored and tired of the same-old thing? This routine is a new and fast workout to ensure you achieve lean and toned muscle. If you are looking for traditional workouts, you are in the wrong place, but if you are looking for Innovative Results Fitness-Here it is:
This workout is comprised of 16 different exercises to blast your body into shape quick! Be forewarned! You should be consulting with a physician prior to any changes in your activity level, nutrition, or attitude. This workout has to start with a determined attitude to burn fat and build lean muscle. Got it? Perfect!
It will start with dumbbells light enough for a good warm-up. Just like the video shows, you will be doing Alternating swingers, Jigsaws, and Pivotals with as little rest as possible. Repeat this for 3 sets, 10-30 seconds each exercise. Now perform 5 minutes of jogging to finalize your warm-up.
It is time to kick it up a notch! You will do this by busting out 10 Dumbbell Push-ups, 10 Dumbbel Plank rows and skipping for 100 yard/meters! 3-5 sets of this workout piece will give your body the push it needs to create those lean and toned muscles.
Now a full body blasting circuit to really get the engine hot. 10 Balancing lateral bounds, 5 burpies, and 5 Ninja Roll-ups 3 times to ramp up your metabolism and create an appreciation for oxygen.
This part is a speed and stamina circuit with jump rope, suicides, more jump rope, and 100 yard run for a 3-peat (do it 3 times), sending your metabolism on a search and destroy mission with fat as the target!
The last bit comes compliments of the bear, crab, spider, and duck. This animal circuit, if performed 3 times or even once will annihilate more calories than you may be prepared to lose! 10 yard bear crawl, crabwalk, spider crawls, and duck walks, sil vous plait. That is french for it is really going to kill calories or please…

When you start Weight Watcher’s at 11 years old, you know you are destined to have weight issues for the rest of your life. I blamed my Mom, I blamed my genetics, I blamed out on my unpredictable asthma. I was looking for someone to say “it’s OK that you’re over weight because you can’t do anything about it”.
I had settled into an uncomfortable 167 lbs. at 5’5″ tall. I’ve always been very proportioned so when I told people that I weighed that much, they were extremely surprised. I told everyone I wanted to lose 42 lbs. which at that point seemed impossible. I got “You’re crazy” looks and, “you look great, why so much?” The answer: I didn’t feel comfortable at that weight.
I was sluggish.
I had no energy.
I was having stomach problems on a daily basis.
I was outgrowing my clothes on a monthly basis and didn’t feel like it was going to stop.
I didn’t have the will power to control my portions. I never ate badly; I just ate a lot of it. I’’ve always been the salad eating type. I actually hate hamburgers. I felt hopeless because to me, I was eating right.
Well, I changed all that. I came to Innovative Results in January of 2008 starting training 3 days a week. I remember having such a hard time getting through the workouts, but as the pounds came off, I realized it was getting easier. Along with my workouts, eating controlled proportioned meals and healthy snacks, I’ve been able to lose 30lbs. and 22 inches off my chest, waist and hips.
I haven’t had any stomach problems since I’ve changed my diet and I haven’t had any unpredictable asthma attacks.
I fit into clothes that I wore 10 years ago and most importantly my expensive jeans again.
I still have about 12 lbs. that I want to lose, but I know it will come off gradually. Innovative Results is great to train with because you don’t get burned out. Every workout is challenging so your body doesn’t plateau. I was worried about building too much muscle, but I haven’t.
I am more confident, happy, energetic and healthier than I ever thought possible.
This has been a complete lifestyle change for me and I can’t thank my Innovative Results personal trainer enough for helping me make it happen.

Southern California is an amazing place to live and play. With so many beaches, parks and trails, there is an endless supply of places to go and stay active. So, if you are looking for an alternative to the gym or just something to do on the weekend, here are 10 of our favorite places to workout in Orange County.
1. Crystal Cove State Park, Newport Coast. 17 miles of hiking trails. There are three main hiking routes in Crystal Cove State Park. Green Route (easiest), Red Route (moderate), and Blue Route (strenuous). Beautiful ocean views! click here for more info.
2. Back Bay Trail Loop, Newport Beach. Just over 10 miles. Perfect for walkers, runners and bikes. click here for map.
3. 1000 Steps, Laguna Beach. Not for the faint of heart! People come from all around to walk 
and run these steps. Better bring your “A” game for this one….and a Gatorade. Here’s some more reviews and a map. Enjoy!
4. Top of the World Hike, Laguna Beach. This is an amazing place with incredible views. You can hike to the top on a sunny day. Not too crazy. Here is some more info.
5. Aliso Woods, Laguna Hills/Laguna Beach. Great intermediate mountain bike trails that weave through the hills. Check out a map here
6. OCC Track and Football Stadium, Costa Mesa. Sprints, stairs and other misc nonsense. This is a great change of pace from regular runs or gym workouts. Run the bleachers, do some intervals on the track. Have fun, mix it up! Here’s your map.
7. Mile Square Park. The name says it all. Run, walk, play, chill. Full of stuff to do. More info here
8. Pick a beach. Almost forgot that we live by the ocean..everyone has a favorite and they are all amazing. Choice is yours. Walk, run, surf, paddle, play, laugh and enjoy yourself.
9. Paddle board along the coast – works your upper body, balance and stamina, but who notices that when you are looking at the view? Incredible. You can rent equipment in just about every city. Laguna beach and The Back Bay are pretty popular spots.
10. Kayak in Newport Bay – cool change of pace and beautiful views of the water, homes, boats and more. Definitely a workout, but a fun change of pace.

How does an Olympic hopeful lose control, and gain over 100 lbs?
Tim was a very successful athlete and used his competitiveness to become a successful business man and dedicated leader. He is now the lead pastor at The Crossing church in Costa Mesa, which is a rapidly expanding, Orange County church, with its reaches around the world.
