<p>How do you know what is good vs bad?</p>
<p>Depends of your goals and how strict your eating habits are&#8230;</p>
<p>In our opinion, REAL food is better than fake, artificial or processed.</p>
<p>Most of the bars that are on the market have tons of funky ingredients that aren&#8217;t really good for you.</p>
<p><strong>One of our favorites is Perfect Foods Bar&#8230;here&#8217;s why:</strong></p>
<p><strong>10. Simple Ingredients.</strong> Real Food. You can pronounce all of the ingredients without a chemistry degree.</p>

<p>Which is best?</p>
<p>Well, that completely depends on your goals and how that activity stimulates your brain.</p>
<p>Think about it, do you really enjoy going to the gym?  Some do and they truly feel better when they leave.  Awesome.</p>
<p>I can&#8217;t stand regular corporate gyms.  Maybe its because I worked for so many years in that environment&#8230;or because I am not able to train the way I want to&#8230;either way I just don&#8217;t get a good workout in that type of place.</p>
<p>If you are a typical bodybuilder type lifter, you probably depend on that equipment to hit big lifts and focus on muscle hypertrophy.</p>
<p>If you are an athlete, then big gyms don&#8217;t usually hit all the pieces of the puzzle.  Athletes should not train like bodybuilders and need more space and benefit from a variety of other tools to reach their potential.  Big gyms don&#8217;t typically have sleds, sandbags, heavy ropes, and other tools that help build  athletic performance</p>
<p>Maybe you enjoy yoga or pilates classes.  If that&#8217;s your thing and you love the results, by all means get in there.</p>
<p><strong>The key point here is this:  Determine your goals and find a place that supports those goals.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Here are some things to look for in a great activity or gym:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Do you like the people?</strong>  Honestly, do you enjoy the people that you workout with?  Maybe you workout on your own, maybe classes, a bootcamp or with a trainer&#8230;but do the people encourage you and support you on your road to success?  If not, you need to find a better place.  <em>The gym should feel like a community and you need to be a part of it.</em></li>
<li><strong>Are you inspired?  </strong>I have been in a lot of gyms&#8230;some big, some small.  Only a handful were inspiring.  I mean, when you walked in you could feel the energy.  A place where you literally wanted to workout and looked forward to every session.  Other people&#8217;s performance or energy can be contagious.  Get around people that inspire you&#8230;your results will go through the roof!</li>
<li><strong>Do you get RESULTS?</strong>  This is why you joined in the first place, right?  If you are just a member of a health club and DON&#8217;T get results, ask for help.  If you are in a bootcamp, take classes, watch videos or workout with a coach&#8230;and DON&#8217;T get results, you have to try something new or assess other areas of your life.</li>
</ol>

<p>NO</p>
<p>I know a lot of people that never set foot in the gym, but they are strong and healthy.  I have other friends that thrive in health clubs.</p>
<p>Just find a place that you love, with people that encourage you and help you reach the goals that motivated you to join in the first place.</p>

<p>Today there are lots of tools that you can buy and use in the comfort of your own home, before workouts, pre-game and even at the office.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve probably seen the foam roller lying around your local gym or chiropractor clinic.</p>
<p>There are also a variety of other rollers, balls and other tools that you can use to break up knots and help release excessive tension in your muscles.</p>

<p>I found out about Innovative by mysteriously following the warrior training page on Facebook.  To be completely honest, I don’t know how that happened.  However, it is <strong>the greatest that could have happened</strong>.  I took advantage of a deal and Aaron was very encouraging about having me start up.  I hadn’t worked out for a year prior to me signing up, but I wanted to regain a useful, functional, fit body.<br />
The first day, I thought I was going to die.  I wanted to quit half way through, I was fighting vomit from coming up and my lungs wanted to leave my body!  Aaron made sure I kept pushing though, and with his <strong>positively and completely amazing knowledge of how the body works, I got through just fine</strong>.</p>
<p>Its been a little over a month now and I’ve seen <strong>significant improvements</strong>!! <p>Running hills is awesome&#8230;.why?  Well, first off, they are easier on your joints.  They also challenge your lower body muscles and your cardiovascular system like nothing else! Remember Jerry Rice and Walter Peyton.  Both of these athletes were known for their strength, power and conditioning on the field&#8230;and their hill workouts were notorious among players.  If you are looking to get in top shape, then running hills has to become part of your program.</p>
<p><strong>So, where do you start?</strong></p>
<p>Could be as simple as run up, walk down&#8230;or you can utilize a heart rate monitor and focus on specific energy systems.</p>
<p><strong>Here are a few ways to mix up your runs:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Alactic Bursts &#8211;  8-12sec sprint, followed by 1min+ rest, repeat 5-10 times.</li>
<li>Lactic runs &#8211; similar to 200-400m sprints.  20sec-1min run, followed by 30-90sec of rest, repeat 3-8 times.</li>
<li>Aerobic &#8211; typically longer, less intense runs.  3 min +</li>
</ul>
<p>Orange County has a ton of great parks, trails and elevation changes, that can challenge any persons&#8217; conditioning.  There are a ton of hills, trails, steep streets and challenges around every corner.</p>
<p><em><strong>Here are some of my favorite hills to run on around Orange County.</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>1.  Salt Creek Park in Dana Point </strong></p>
<p>This has a few different options.  There is a grass hill (see picture), asphalt path next to it, stairs down the beach and a stair/hill combo at the end.  You can even take a stroll or a swim when you&#8217;re done!</p>
<p><strong>2.  China Cove in Corona del Mar</strong></p>
<p>Hot spot for  trainers in Corona del Mar&#8230;some days are a bit crowded, but this is a great spot for short bursts of effort.</p>
<p><strong>3.  West St Trail in Laguna Beach</strong></p>
<p>This is one of my favorite trails!  You turn onto West St, off PCH and head up about half a mile or so.  There is a trail head.  This trail starts out pretty level, then shoots straight up to the top of a huge hill.  This is steep!  Bring your &#8220;A&#8221; Game!</p>

<p><strong>4.  Top of the World in Laguna Beach</strong></p>
<p>Lots of people know about this one, but it has to go on the list.  There are a few different routes that vary in difficulty and distance.  Change it up and enjoy the views!</p>
<p><strong>5.  Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach</strong></p>
<p>This is a beautiful, hidden beach, just off PCH and Nye St in Laguna.  There is an asphalt street that pretty much goes from the beach all the way to the houses on the top.  My car even gets tired when I drive this one!</p>
<p><strong>6.  Quail Hill in Irvine</strong></p>
<p>I like this trail, just off Sand Canyon in Irvine.  It is a 3 mile loop, but I like the gradual hill at the beginning of the trail.  It isn&#8217;t too crazy, but running 10 150 yard sprints up that hill will wear you out quick!</p>
<p><strong>7.  Newport Coast Drive in Newport Beach</strong></p>
<p>PCH to the top.  This is popular among bicyclists, but this hill is a killer run.  Steady horribleness for over a mile.  ENJOY!</p>
<p><strong>8.  Peter&#8217; Canyon in Orange</strong></p>
<p>This is a great trail that is full of various hills and challenges.  Definitely high on the list!</p>
<p><strong>9.  Crystal Cove in Newport Coast/Laguna Beach</strong></p>
<p>Ok, you can pretty much go anywhere in Newport Coast and Laguna Beach and find a hill.  Crystal Cove Park is another great trail.</p>
<p><strong>10.  Whiting Ranch in Trabuco Canyon</strong></p>
<p>I really liked this trail.  It started really level, then had a good half mile steady incline.  Fun times!</p>
<p><em><strong>Bottom line:  If you want to get lean and be in top shape, running hills is essential to your training program.</strong></em></p>

<p>We would like to thank everyone that cam eout and supported this great cause.</p>
<p><em><strong>Over 20 people showed up and we raised over $250 to feed starving children.  </strong></em></p>
<p>Not bad for the first day!</p>
<p>Be sure and join us next Saturday, and every Saturday, for these great events.</p>
