Innovative Results selects Mika as its 3rd Non-Profit Organization in the April 2012 City Transformation Challenge.
Mika is a Christian non-profit working in 5 low-income neighborhoods of Costa Mesa to develop both youth and adults.
Mika’s Main Goal: Equip our neighborhood leaders to make the changes that they want to see in their neighborhood in order to have a better place to live in.
Step Up is Mika’s primary youth program. An after-school tutoring program, Step Up is a program where kids get help with their homework and interact with positive adult role models.
Mika primarily works with adults through our Neighborhood Action Committees. In these committees, groups of neighbors come together in weekly or bi-weekly meetings to discuss the changes, initiatives, and action steps that they want to see in their community.
HOW CAN INNOVATIVE RESULTS HELP!?
The Step Up Youth Program needs volunteers during Spring Break. The kids won’t have homework, Mika volunteers spend time doing different outdoor activities that include: A picnic day, a beach day and a movie day. The volunteers will have the opportunity to spend time with the kids, make connections with them, and assist them during the day.
